READERS with young children or relatives have been asked to assist an MP with a project.
Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner MP Nick Hurd is asking readers of the Harrow Times for help on a constituency project about work experience.
Mr Hurd, who was re-elected to the seat in May, hopes to find out what advice and support is available to young people in schools.
He said: “I want young people in the area to have the best possible preparation for the world of work.
“That should include the opportunity to access high quality work experience placements and access to good career advice.
“I am not sure that we are where we need to be in terms of equal opportunity. To test that instinct, I am conducting a survey of young people in the area to get their view on what is available to them.
“If the picture that emerges is not good enough, I want to do something about it.”
Anyone over the age of 16 can take part in the project, which consists of an online survey.
The survey includes questions such as “Does your school/college offer careers advice from a teacher” and “How should careers advice differ as you get older?”
