DANCE fans queuing for the start of Strictly Come Dancing at Elstree Studios helped raise money for a cancer charity while they waited.
The Visually Impaired Club, at Maxwell Park Community Centre, in Borehamwood, held a coffee afternoon for Macmillan Cancer on Friday.
Clive and Elaine Butchins organised a quiz, and more than 50 people joined in with the day which originally raised £650.
Meanwhile, over the road people began queuing for the start of Strictly Come Dancing at Elstree Studios.
Volunteers headed outside and began to sell the leftover cakes to people as they waited – boosting the total collected to £1,200.
Sasha Capocci, whose son, Michael, attends the club, organised the afternoon and was “delighted” with the turnout.
She said: “Last year’s event raised £750 so £1,200 was beyond our wildest dreams.”
