A MUSEUM which celebrates Borehamwood’s rich history welcomed its 10,000th visitor.

Elstree and Borehamwood Museum, at 96 Shenley Road, gave their milestone visitor a bottle of champagne.

The museum is currently running the popular EastEnders at 30 – In our Manor exhibition, which include iconic props used in the soap including wedding dresses and gruesome murder weapons.

Museum manager David Armitage, said: "It's a great achievement to reach 10,000 visitors.

“We are always looking to produce new and interesting exhibits, building on the extremely successful Eastenders at 30 exhibition, which has attracted a large number of visitors."

The museum, run entirely by volunteers, relocated to 96 Shenley Road in November 2013 from its previous home on Drayton Road and has seen visiting figures soar since re-opening.

Councillor Brenda Batten said: "We are fortunate in Hertsmere to have such a rich and interesting history, and we're extremely lucky to have 96 Shenley Road house the Elstree and Borehamwood Museum.

“It allows us to showcase our local history and ensure it remains an important part of our community."
