A FOOTBALL club which was saved from the brink of closure after its pitch was turned into a “muddy swamp” has been given a grant.
Belstone Football Club, in Radlett, were given £450 from various Hertsmere borough councillors from the Ward Improvement Scheme.
The money will pay for a new set of full-sized goals on wheels.
Earlier this year, the club feared it would have to cancel games because constant flooding meant the boys could not play on the field.
But after raising enough money to install a new drainage system, Jeremy Pepper, who coaches the under 13s team, said he was “pleased” they had reached their goal.
