Teenagers who have had cancer were given the chance to meet their favourite Hollywood actor and see a film set in action.

Amanda Day, 17 and Toby Dowling, 18, were invited onto the set of new film Eye Digress after children’s charity Rays of Sunshine and Red Roc Entertainment, in Elstree, organised the visit.

The pair were treated to a behind the scenes tour that ended with a meeting with actor Timothy Spall, who stars in the film.

Both teens have aspirations to work in the film industry - Toby wants to become an actor and got to spend time on set while Amanda who aspires to be a special effects make-up artist spent time in the make-up department.

Amanda has a brain tumour but managed to pass her GCSE exams and remains focussed on her dream job.

Her mother Jenny said: “Amanda really enjoyed herself, she has not stopped talking about it.

“The highlight for Amanda was definitely watching Timothy being transformed into a woman! She said that he was very funny and the make-up artist was extremely informative.  “Again thank you Rays of Sunshine and Red Rock Entertainment for offering this experience to Amanda.”

Toby was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney as a child and underwent a heart transplant two years ago, but now is looking forward to pursing acting.

His mother Gilly said: “Toby had an absolutely brilliant time and thoroughly enjoyed meeting Timothy Spall. We can’t thank Rays of Sunshine and Red Rock Entertainment enough for arranging this for Toby – it’s so lovely to see good things happening to him.”

The film directed by Stephen Cookson and produced by Red Rock entertainment at Elstree sees actor Timothy Spall take on all the roles in the film.
