Children have been making the most of the great outdoors by visiting a country park during the summer holidays.

During a recent visit to Aldenham Country Park Zoo in Elstree children from Allsorts Club, New Barnet, were given the chance to meet furry friends on the farm.

The park promises an interactive experience in the Little Framers Play Barn as well as the chance to glimpse Winne the Pooh on the 100 acre wood trail.

During the visit, children were greeted by a herd of goats – along with Napoleon and Bramble, a pair of pygmy goats that live at the park.

Also popular among the children was Bonnie, the four-month-old Toggenburg goat.

Bottle-fed since she was tiny after being ill, Bonnie was hand-reared and has now made a full recovery.

The young visitors were also given the chance to pet rabbits and met Becks the Peruvian guinea pig in the small animal petting area.

In the pond, the club met a number of Indian runner ducks who were splashing about in the water.

The 160 acre country park is also home to feathered friends Bernard the turkey and Brecon Buff geese.
