A teenager from Radlett took home a gold medal at the 2015 British Transplant Games.

The games, which were for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), took place in Newcastle from July 30 to August 2.

Charles Obadiaru, joined Team GOSH to compete against athletes from other UK hospitals, in events such as archery, table tennis, badminton and cycling.

The 15-year-old took home gold in the 5km cycling time trial, and bronze in Table Tennis.

Charles was born with Prune belly syndrome - a rare congenital condition which led to chronic renal failure. He underwent a successful kidney transplant in 2007.

Team managers Suzanne Collin and Suzanne Bradley said: "We’re delighted that Charles was a part of the GOSH Renal Team.

"The Games provide a wonderful arena to raise awareness for our transplant patients and their families, and to honour the donors and the donor families.

"Each and every member of our team is a hero and we are so proud of Charles for his wonderful achievements at the games this year."
