Former school friends will look past the grey hairs as they step back into the past for a school reunion.

Channel swimmer Kevin Murphy and radio presenter Martin Rose are looking for old school friends, 50 years after they left Claremont School in Kenton.

Kevin, 66, left Claremont in 1965 and became a reporter on local and national newspapers before moving on to Independent Radio News.

He said: “It’s always intrigued me to know what happened to some of the friends I knew then. Hopefully I can find out.

“There may be a few grey hairs but I reckon we’ll soon remember each other.”

Martin, 67, left Claremont in 1964 and went on to co-found Radio Edgware and Radio Northwick for many years, cheering up thousands of hospital patients with their favourite tracks.

The duo now plan to host a school reunion on Sunday, November 8, and are on a mission to find pupils who left Claremont between 1950 and 1980.

Mr Rose said: “The school hopes from that first reunion a Claremont Alumni would be created with regular get togethers, features and events.

“The school would also like to form a committee to organise the reunion and will be looking for ex-pupils who have the time and expertise to help.”

There will be a buffet reception and a range of activities including tours of the school and facilities and displays of photos from the past.

Tickets will be sold to attend the event to help pay for the buffet reception and other expenses. To attend, or help with planning, contact Martin Rose on DANCE4UK@AOL.COM
