Neighbours are being asked for their views on how gambling and betting shops are run.

Hertsmere Borough Council has published a fresh set of rules on how it will oversee licenses for gambling venues.

The document has to be updated every three years to meet government demand, and says anyone wanting to open a gambling or betting facility in the borough has to:

- Assess the impact on the community – especially young and vulnerable adults

- Teach staff about the signs of child sexual exploitation

- Be aware of children hanging out the premises waiting for ‘older people’ - That there are controls to minimise crime

- Create self-exclusion schemes for those who have gambling problems.

Schools have also been invited to give their views on the way raffles are regulated.
