MP Oliver Dowden has vowed to help a new youth club which hopes to raise £4,000 by September the help it needs to find its feet.
The Conservative MP for Hertsmere met committee members to find out what he can to do help.
The group is the brainchild of mothers in the area, who realised there was nowhere for children aged seven to 12-year-sold to meet their friends in a safe, comfortable environment.
They were joined by Borehamwood and Elstree mayor Councillor Richard Butler.
Mr Dowden said: “It was great to meet Kelly and hear all about Funky Friendz. This is a fantastic idea, and a brilliant opportunity for children locally to get together and have fun with their friends in a safe environment.
The vision and drive to get this initiative off the ground has been tremendous, and Kelly and her team are to be hugely congratulated.
“The community is behind them and with the support of The Borehamwood Times’ readership I am sure they will meet their fundraising goal.
“I will lend all the help I can to Kelly and Funky Friendz.”
