Children sprinkled a bit of magic onto their school playground and created a garden for fairies to fly in.

Pupils from Kenilworth School, in Borehamwood, spent eight months designing, painting, building and gathering tools for their fairy wonderland.

They were supported by caretaker Mark Eason, who helped them make a fairy castle and buildings for the girls in Reception and Year 1.

Kacie, ten, said: “I didn’t realise how much imagination I had until I helped out. The garden work improved my confidence. I liked how the younger children enjoyed our work.

Bobbi, ten, said: “When we started to make the fairy garden, I was so excited and wanted to do it all on my own but I realised that it was all about teamwork.

“As the younger children were looking for fairies, they were so happy and some of them said that they wanted it in their own gardens.”

Lexi, nine, said: “When we were making the fairy garden, it made a magical feeling come over all of us.”

Age UK, British Heart Foundation, Barnardo’s and Dallas Discounts Stores and Ayletts Garden centre donated pots for the garden.
