A German mayor was given a glimpse of the glitz and glamour of Elstree Studios during a trip to Borehamwood.

The Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood's twin town of Offenburg, Frau Edith Schreiner, visited the town with the Borehamwood and Elstree Twin Town Association (BETTA).

Frau Schreiner and her husband, Dr Bernhard Schreiner, were joined by Klaus and Beate Teufel, who represent the twinning association's German counterpart Die Brucke, which means ‘The Bridge’.

After touring the studios, the German visitors were invited to an evening meal at the Battle Axes pub in Aldenham with Elstree & Borehamwood Town Mayor Cllr Richard Butler and his Mayoress, Barnet councillor Rebecca Challice.

Frau Schreiner said: “It was my first visit to England and to know that our English partner town had such wealth of history in film making.

“Visiting the studios where so many famous films had been made was very special and one both my husband and I will cherish.”
