An education partnership has been announced between a college and university.

The partnership between Ilford-based Mont Rose College, which was opened in October last year, and Buckinghamshire New University was announced yesterday (May 20).

Students at Mont Rose College, in Cranbrook Road, will be able to top-up their Higher National Diploma (HND) and Higher National Certificate (HNC) qualifications with BA (Hons) Business Management and BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance degrees from Bucks New University in High Wycombe.

Alternatively, students can undertake their full three-year degree course in the subjects at Mont Rose, with Bucks New University awarding the qualification.

The new courses will begin in September 2015, benefiting current Mont Rose students, most of whom will progress to do final year top-ups.

Bilal Sheikh, Principal of Mont Rose College, said: “We are thrilled to announce this partnership, which will provide important education opportunities to students.

“We need to find high-quality, alternative pathways to degrees, and private Further Education colleges have a pivotal role to play in this process.”

Dr Alison Chambers, Pro Vice Chancellor for the Faculty of Society & Health at Bucks, said she was "delighted" with the partnership.

“We look forward to developing our collaboration to support the educational aspirations of students through the provision of high-quality progression routes into higher education," she said.
