A young mother has dodged rain, hail and everything May can throw at her as part of a mammoth charity challenge.

Intrepid runner Farah Sadiq, of Beverley Drive, Edgware, is currently more than halfway through her ‘Every Day in May’ challenge to run or walk 5K each day during this month.

Come rain or shine, she has committed to running or walking for 35 minutes of each day to raise money for the Dimbleby Cancer Care charity.

She said: “It isn’t easy. I go out there every day even when it's raining - or hailing as it was earlier in the week - or I've only had two hours of sleep because the baby kept me up all night.

“But it is my commitment for 31 days in May, and I will be out there running and walking no matter what the weather is doing.”

Mrs Sadiq, a mother and dedicated campaigner, says she decided to take up the challenge after a friend was diagnosed with cancer.

She added: “A close family friend was recently diagnosed with a tumour, that has now been removed but the biopsy revealed that it's malignant. Sadly it's in a place that cannot be operated.

“So many family members and close friends are battling cancer, around one in three or so I'm told.

“We're lucky we have the financial means and family support to get through this by many people don't and that’s my motivation.”

Throughout the challenge, she has kept a record of how many kilometres she has run, walked and even swam in the hope that this will encourage people to add their donations.
