Mothers have been working tirelessly to raise money to launch Borehamwood's first ever youth club for children aged seven to 12.

The new Funky Friendz club will be open in September - and the Borehamwood Times has launched an appeal to raise £4,000 to help them get started.

Here, we meet the children who will benefit from the club:

Zak, ten

Likes riding his bike and football

"I spend all my spare time playing football, going to Arsenal with my dad and playing on my Xbox even though my mum moans at me to play outside. I can't wait to go to Funky Friendz and meet up with my mates. I will definately be spending my pocket money down there in the tuck shop."
