A primary school is asking for people’s comments on its plans to expand each year group.

Brent Council and the governing body of Uxendon Manor Primary in Vista Way, Kenton, is consulting with staff, parents and the community on proposals to expand the school by two new forms in each year group.

The expansion would provide an extra 60 permanent places in each year group or 420 new permanent places in total.

The increase of 60 places in each year group is intended to start at reception age in September 2015 and rise to Year 6 by September 2021.

Cllr Ruth Moher, Brent Council’s cabinet member for children and young people, said: “Like many London boroughs we are facing a growing demand for primary school places because of the borough’s growing population and growing numbers of school-age children.

“That’s why at some primary schools such as Uxendon Manor we are proposing increasing the number of forms of entry.

“It’s very important that everyone in the community as well as parents and school staff has their say about the proposals and uses this opportunity to say what they think about our proposals for the school.”

The consultation be followed by the statutory consultation which will give the public yet another chance to comment, with a further consultation on the proposed building works and planning application taking place in the summer.
