Hertsmere Borough Council has signed up to take part in a mental health challenge.
The challenge, as part of Mental Health Awareness Week, looks at the important role local authorities have in improving mental health in their communities and encouraging a proactive approach.
Councillor Brenda Batten has been appointed as the authority's mental health champion.
She said: "There's already a lot of good work going on in this area, but the challenge provides us with a useful framework for our health and wellbeing strategy to ensure all the relevant agencies are working together to deliver integrated health and social care support for our communities here in Hertsmere.
"We're committed to tackling any instances of discrimination on the grounds of mental health and also encouraging wellbeing through various initiatives."
