There is just one week to go until people in Hertsmere elect their new MP and new councillors.

Residents will be able to vote at their registered polling station between 7am and 10pm on Thursday, May 7.

Counting of votes in the parliamentary elections will begin soon after the polling stations close at 10pm, and results will be declared overnight.

Reporter Jyoti Rambhai will be bringing you live updates via a live blog on the Borehamwood Times website, and tweeting using the hashtag #HertsmereCount.

The count for full council will begin on Friday, May 8 will begin at midday and results will start rolling in from 1pm.

Chief reporter Anna Slater will be at the scene running a live blog throughout the day.

Polling stations are open from 7am and close at 10pm. There are 48 polling districts in Hertsmere and there is a map of the appropriate polling station at the back of each polling card.

In Hertsmere, one MP will be elected for the whole area including Bushey, Borehamwood and Potters Bar.

This year there is also an ‘all out’ election, which include Hertsmere Borough Council, Aldenham Parish Council, Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council, Shenley Parish Council, South Mimms Parish Council and Ridge Parish Council.

Mr Clappison announced he was standing down last year after 23 years in power, and hoping to take his place is Oliver Dowden. Richard Butler, who at 29 could be one of the youngest MPs. Frank Ward is the UK Independence Party’s candidate whilst Sophie Bowler is standing for the Liberal Democrats.
