A group of teenage police cadets were given first aid training.

As part of their service to the community, members of the Hertsmere Volunteer Police Cadets aged 13 to 15-years-old spent their Easter holidays learning life-saving techniques.

These included CPR, how to put someone in the recovery position, dealing with someone who isn’t breathing, and stopping choking and bleeding.

The next day a group aged 16 to 18-year-olds completed more advanced training and gained a qualification in first aid at work.

The sessions, which were held at the civic offices, in Elstree Way, were led by first aid trainer Lawrie Symons.

Cadet Leader Valerie Kane said: “These are invaluable skills for our cadets to be learning and you never know when they may need to use them. I hope they feel more confident about dealing with a casualty in the event of an incident.”
