Police moved on homeless people and men waiting for jobs in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour.

Police officers, Brent Council and Home Office immigration enforcement officers have been working together after people complained rough sleepers and men waiting to be picked up for cash-in-hand work have been causing noise, intimidating women and dropping litter.

On Monday, officers visited Fryent Park in Kingsbury and spoke to two rough sleepers who were breaching bylaws in the park, requesting they leave.

Four men waiting for work were later stopped outside Matalan in Cricklewood Broadway, while 23 were stopped outside Selco, in Geron Way, Cricklewood, and another four in Honeypot Lane, Harrow.

Officers gave out job advice and directions to homeless charities.

Sergeant Bryan Wappat said: "Our approach is to work with the local authority and a homeless charity to divert people away from rough sleeping and into legitimate paid work whilst at the same time working with colleagues from the Home Office to ensure treaty rights are being adhered to.

“Subjects who are found to be involved in crime and anti-social behaviour will be dealt with robustly using enforcement tactics."
