Future journalists got a sneak peak at a national newsroom as they quizzed a former editor on how young people can be engaged with politics.
Year 9 and 10 pupils from Hertswood Academy, in Thrift Farm Lane, Borehamwood, visited the BBC News building at New Broadcasting House, London.
The event was the final activity in a six-week module on news gathering and journalism.
Pupils were given a tour of the visual journalism department and interviewed Amanda Farnsworth, the former editor of the 1pm and 6pm news.
During the interview, children asked questions about the way approaches to news are changing and how young people can be engaged with politics.
The pupils also created a news story that would show what they had learnt during their experience. It took them six weeks to create a script and edit the story before filming at 2pm.
