A man who chased a teenager with his dog before stabbing him has been jailed.

Stephen Hibbs, of Theobold Street, Borehamwood, was jailed for ten years at St Albans Crown Court last week.

The 18-year-old was found guilty of having a dangerous dog out of control, grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife.

The assaults took place in August 2014 when the first victim, who was aged 19, was approached by Hibbs before being stabbed in the chest and the back.

The second victim, also 19, was chased by Hibbs and his dog down Theobold Street before he was stabbed and bitten by Hibbs’s dog.

The victims were known to each other and both assaults were carried out in retaliation for a previous incident.

Detective Constable, Paul Spencer, from Hertsmere’s local crime unit, said: “Hertfordshire Constabulary will not tolerate anyone carrying knives and will treat all gang related incidents seriously.

“I hope the sentencing given sends out a strong message that anyone who deliberately assaults another person will be punished.”
