Caterpillars had a ‘wiggle and a giggle’ as they formed a conga line during a sponsored walk at a nursery.

Toddlers at Busy Bees, in Andrew Close, Shenley, teamed up with Action for Children to celebrate the well-loved book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Children dressed up as caterpillars and their parents and friends sponsored them to talk part in the walk, which fell on national The Very Hungry Caterpillar Day on March 19.

Zara Habib, nursery manager at Busy Bees in Shenley, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have hosted a Busy Bees Giant Wiggle in support of Action for Children.

“Parents and staff loved seeing our little ones get wiggling, before enjoying some creative activities and, of course, sitting down to hear the timeless tale, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It was such a fun day.

“Getting involved in the giant wiggle was lots of fun and everyone enjoyed themselves.”

Action for Children provides early years child development, learning and childcare services to thousands throughout the UK, through its children and family centres.

Ruth Sorby, partnership fundraising manager at Action for Children, said: “What better way to celebrate the anniversary of Eric Carle’s beloved book than by getting kids active and having fun.

“The money raised by the giant wiggle at Shenley will help to support vulnerable children, young people and families in the heart of communities in Hertfordshire and across the UK.”
