Drugs and illegal tobacco were seized when police carried out a community action day.

A warrant was executed at a shop in North Parade, Mollison Way, Edgware, resulting in three arrests for handling stolen goods.

The shop keeper was also arrested for possessing controlled drugs, and illegal tobacco was also seized.

Sergeant Chris Whelan, of Edgware Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "Today's day of action was a great example of effective partnership working.

“The warrant and three arrests for handling stolen goods send out a clear message that those who become involved in the buying and selling of stolen property can expect strong enforcement action."

In other raids around Edgware, 34 people were found living in 12 rooms above a pub, and Harrow Housing teams are now looking to prosecute the landlord.

Council teams cleaned the streets throughout the day, and immigration officers and trading standards officers conducted rogue trader visits.

London Fire Brigade also took part in the day, visiting many homes in the area providing free fire alarms.

Acting Sergeant Simon Fretwell said: "This is the 15th Secure Streets operation we have completed since its launch in 2013. Working with our partners in this way is playing a huge part in ensuring we remain the safest borough in London.

“We now have more than 60 arrests and we will continue to tackle offenders committing crime in our borough."
