Almost 90 per cent of Ofsted inspected schools in Harrow have been rated as good or outstanding.

Data from the Cabinet Office has reviewed the overall effectiveness for schools and academies across the capital, with half of Harrow’s 60 schools being awarded an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted report.

The review, which includes all Ofsted reports carried out up to December 31, 2014, also shows that 23 schools – equivalent to 38 per cent – were rated as ‘good’.

However six schools were told they required improvement, while one school – equivalent to two per cent of schools in the borough – was told it was inadequate.

Cabinet member for children, schools and young people Simon Brown said: “This report confirms that Harrow continues to have some of the best schools in the country.

"However, we are not complacent and schools are continually striving to improve to ensure that the quality of education provision for our children and young people is amongst the best in the country.”

Across the capital, 28 per cent of schools are ranked as ‘outstanding’, while only one per cent – a total of 23 schools out of 2,413 – has been rated as inadequate.
