The politicians of tomorrow learnt more about democracy when they quizzed councillors before taking part in a mock election.
Nearly 80 pupils from schools Hartsborne Primary School, Bushey Meads and Queens’ School, attended Hertsmere Borough Council’s eight annual youth conference at the civic offices, in Elstree Way, Borehamwood.
The pupils, all aged between ten and 13, took part in an interactive quiz and show called I’m a Democracy, Get Me Out Of Here, performed by FLIP Theatre Workshop.
Children had the chance to meet and quiz the borough councillors about their policies and principles during a ‘speed dating’ style event, before voting for their favourite.
The councillors who took part were Richard Butler, Brenda Batten and Sandra Parnell, with Cllr Butler winning the vote.
