Young people looking for work have been urged to find out more about apprenticeships in Hertsmere.

Ollie Norman, of East Finchley, started as an apprentice plumber at Taylor Wimpey’s Millbrook Park development in Mill Hill East last November after having gained his Level 2 plumbing certificate and Level 2 gas certificate.

The 23-year-old also work on an apartment project at Gemini Park in Borehamwood, and will soon begin a course for a Level 3 gas certificate, spending four days a week on site and one day at college.

Mr Norman said: “There is a lot to know, but working with and for the right people makes it a lot easier. From day one Taylor Wimpey have looked after me. They have assigned me with a fantastic contractor, H2O, and the guys have made training very enjoyable – no two days are ever the same.

“Earn as you learn is a great incentive for young trainees, and I plan to stay with Taylor Wimpey for many years.”

People can find out more at www.apprenticeships.org or by visiting their nearest Job Centre Plus offices or college.
