A man was stabbed in his stomach in an attack in Borehamwood.

The victim, who is in his 20s, flagged down a passing car and asked for help in Baldock Way at 11.30pm on Friday, February 27.

He had an injury to his stomach, believed to have been caused by being stabbed with a knife.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Inspector Matt Phillips, who leads the local crime unit, said: “We are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this serious assault.

“We believe it happened in the area around Leeming Road.  Extra patrols have been put in place in the area to provide reassurance to local residents.

“At this early stage we believe the man was approached by up to four men, who may have been known to the victim.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident or saw a group of men acting suspiciously around the time it took place to contact police at the earliest opportunity. I’d also appeal to anyone who may have information about who was responsible to also get in touch.”
