Soup, sandwiches and singers helped a Christian group celebrate 20 years of lunches for the elderly.
The first Pinner Association of Churches Welcome Lunch was held in February 1995, and since that date six lunches have been held every year for older people in Pinner who live alone or are usually housebound.
Around 60 guests celebrated the anniversary on February 17 in Pinner Methodist Church, in Love Lane, Pinner, joining together to share soup and sandwiches and make new friends.
Father Robert of St Luke’s Roman Catholic Church spoke before the cake-cutting to pay tribute to the work carried out by the group of organisers - some of whom, including Valerie Edis, had been part of the original organising team.
A group of singers from Cannon Lane Methodist Church also entertained the guests as they sat down to their slice of cake, and pancakes were served to celebrate Shrove Tuesday.
