A serious shortage of care workers in Hertsmere means there is a growing waiting list of
elderly people needing help in their homes.
Home Instead Welwyn and Hatfield, which cover Borehamwood and Potters Bar, currently has 27 CAREgivers who visit people in their homes to provide care.
Heather Simms, who works at Home Instead, said: “The kind of care we offer our clients is far removed from the 15-minute splash and dash calls that people will have read about.
“Our CAREGivers have the time to spend with clients, who become their companions, making cups of tea, going to the shops, being their personal assistant. It's a fantastically rewarding role and people can basically set their own hours.”
Home Instead currently has a waiting list of 10 people who need help.
