An appeal has been launched after permission to demolish a house and replace it with five others was refused.
Developers want to bulldoze the house in Gills Lane, Radlett, and replace it with four or five detached houses.
Hertsmere Borough Council refused the scheme consent because it did not fit in with the surrounding landscape and failed to comply with regulations.
A planning inspector representing the Secretary of State will rule on the appeal.
