Hertsmere councillors and council staff visited a police headquarters to see first hand how police communications are managed.

The group, which included the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Hertsmere, business owners and council staff, learnt how emergency and non-emergency calls are handled during the visit to Hertfordshire Constabulary’s headquarters in Welwyn Garden City last week.

They also had the opportunity to speak to staff about how incidents of anti-social behaviour are managed with other agencies, as well as seeing how officers work with the Highways Agency and Hertfordshire Highways.

Mayor of Hertsmere Councillor Carey Keates said: "It was a fascinating visit and I'd like to say a big thank you to our hosts.

“It was interesting to hear about the range of specialist police units that can be deployed to incidents and how neighbouring forces are working collaboratively to achieve more efficient and effective ways of delivering policing."
