Two men have been arrested after a woman was targeted as part of a phone scam.

The woman, from Elstree, had received a phone call on the evening of November 28 from a man claiming to work for security at a shop in London.

He claimed someone had attempted to spend thousands of pounds on her credit card and that he would need her PIN.

The caller asked her to call the bank, which she believed she was doing, but the caller had not hung up and instead passed her onto someone else who said they were from the victim’s bank and organised a courier to collect the card.

Fortunately, the victim realised this was a potential scam and contacted the police who were then able to act on the information. No money was taken.

Two men from Luton, aged 18-years-old, were arrested on suspicion of fraud.

They have been released on police bail until December 23.
