A mother-of-two who traded teaching for creating a gaming app has joined a national drive to promote women in computer programming.

Samantha Liebenberg, 25, of Aldenham Road, Elstree, designed the Trivial Pursuit-style game Thinking for iPhones.

The game tests players' general knowledge, with individual and 'party' modes and junior and adult levels.

Mrs Liebenberg said the game is designed so adults can play against children on a "genuinely level playing field."

Now, Mrs Liebenberg is taking part in the QueenOfCode campaign.

The campaign, which was launched on Monday, is a partnership between the UK's largest crowdfunding platform, Crowdfunder, and Creative England.

The first five projects in the campaign with the most backing and support will each receive an additional £3,000 funding from Creative England.

This partnership has been created to give female game developers and industry pioneers in England the opportunity to receive the funding they need to support their work and showcase their talents.

As part of the campaign, Thinking needs to reach a target of £5,000 and gain as many supporters as possible to be in with a chance of getting that £3,000.

Mrs Liebenberg said: "Coming up with the concept is the fun part of being an app developer, but the hard part is turning it into something real. It is absolutely fantastic to be provided with the opportunity of some outside help and support"

Jaspal Sohal, head of games and figital at Creative England, said: "It’s great to see Thinking by Slie Labs and the rest of the Queen of Code campaigns go live, and we can’t wait to see these innovative and creative campaigns progress.

"There are some incredible female game developers out there, and Queen of Code is a great way to highlight and support that growing talent pool."

Thinking is available to download for free on the iPhone.
