A housebuilder will deliver some festive sparkle after stepping up to sponsor a Christmas lights switch-on event.

Taylor Wimpey, which is currently building homes at Gemini Park, has donated £500 to Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council to go towards the switch-on on Sunday.

The event will begin at 2pm with a speech from town mayor Councillor Pat Strack at 4pm, followed by the switch-on of the lights.

Visitors can enjoy a synthetic ice rink, a Christmas carousel, a concert in the church, a brass band, as well as mince pies and mulled wine.

Tracy Malton, deputy clerk at the town council, said: “We are extremely grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their continued support by way of sponsorship.

“It goes without saying that the civic events that are put on are costly and we have a budget that we have to adhere to, therefore the sponsorship we receive from Taylor Wimpey enables us to give more to the community.

“The event is free to residents and visitors alike, and has not only been very popular with our residents, but also attracts people from outside of our area.”
