A craft fair has been the subject of 'a great art robbery'.
Elstree and Borehamwood NSPCC is to hold its annual craft and gift fair at the end of this month – however art work from one school for a competition has been heisted.
Entries for the school art competition from Monksmead Primary School have gone missing, meaning it will no longer feature in the show.
Organiser Ann Goddard said: “The dreadful news when I rang the school was that the art had been handed to someone else - no doubt for sale to a millionaire collector!”
The fair, which takes place on November 30, will be opened by Hertsmere Mayor Cllr Carey Keates and James Clappison, MP for Hertsmere, who will arrive at 2.00pm to award the prizes for the art competition which ten schools have entered.
Organisers promise family friendly fun with a wide variety of stalls with gifts and craft work, bric-a-brac stalls and a book stall.
Music will be provided by Borehamwood Brass, Jim Phillips Jazz Band and Paul Lomax Jazz Guitar, while refreshments will be served all day with Chinese noodle lunches .
The fair, which organisers hope will make at least £4,000, will take place on Sunday, November 30 in Allum Hall, Borehamwood, from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
