Boreham Wood FC has launched a new scheme to raise money for youth teams and bring more people through its turnstiles.

After discussions with two youth football clubs, Boreham Wood FC’s community department created a money making initiative that it hopes will benefit everyone.

Boreham Wood FC will give each club that participates match tickets to sell to parents at a reduced rate of £10, which includes free entry for up to two children aged under 16.

The £10 tickets are £3 cheaper than normal, and Boreham Wood FC will donate £4 back to the participating youth club or team for each one that is sold.

When the scheme was launched at the recent home game against Wealdstone, 53 tickets were purchased - resulting in £212 being donated back into community clubs.

It also gave the opportunity for more than 80 children to visit the Meadow Park ground, watch the team and enjoy a late Boreham Wood victory.

Manager Ian Allinson said: "It was great to have the youth football clubs and kids here with us and it definitely made a difference. Perhaps that's the reason we scored two late goals, including our 90th minute winner.

“It was a lovely feeling though to send more than 300 Wood fans delirious at the end, going home happy and the win put us top of the league, so it was a great day all round.”

There will be a youth club fundraiser for Borehamwood's next home game on against Gosport on Saturday, November 22.
