A care home hosted an interactive event to help dispel myths surrounding dementia.

Sunrise of Elstree, in Edgwarebury Lane, hosted the interactive event as part of Resources to Remember, a national campaign led by Sunrise Senior Living and held in conjunction with Alzheimer’s Society.

A Dementia Friends Champion delivered a talk on the illness, with the aim to help people understand a bit more about dementia and the small things they can do to help people living with memory loss.

Guests were also treated to afternoon tea, while singer Jackie Marks entertained the crowd.

Regina Heneghan, general manager at Sunrise of Elstree, said: “We wholeheartedly back the life changing work of Alzheimer’s Society and we are committed to supporting and empowering people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.Through this campaign we aim to highlight the simple, every day ways we all can do this.

“Our Resources to Remember event was an excellent opportunity to welcome people to our community and share the expertise of our wonderful staff.

"We're looking forward to helping the Alzheimer’s Society provide dementia education to one million people as part of the Dementia Friends initiative.”
