A choir has just seven days left until it performs live in front of an audience of millions.

Pupils from Hertswood Academy, along with primary school pupils from Cowley Hill School, in Winstre Road, and Kenilworth School, in Kenilworth Drive, have been selected by producers to appear on television for the Children in Need special this month.

The three student choirs came together at the Ark Theatre, in Borehamwood, yesterday to rehearse before the big day next Friday, November 14, where the group will perform live on television in front of an audience of millions from across the country.

Cowley Hill headteacher John Hood, who has 25 pupils in the choir, said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for the children, which will showcase their talents while working with the other schools to produce an amazing choir.

“It’s also great for us as we have just been awarded the Arts Mark so this is supporting our accreditation. We have some incredible music talents performing.”

Leading the choir is Anne Fairbrother, choral director from Hertfordshire Music Service, who has pulled the three schools together and arranged their performance.

Hertswood Academy's head of music Phil Hobbs said: “The three schools coming together is a special occasion and a chance for us to all see how we’re doing.

“Everyone is very excited about this opportunity.”
