More than 200 children and parents donned fancy dress costumes for a family-friendly Halloween party.
Families enjoyed chocolates, soup and toffee apples at the annual free event held at The Cage, a historic roundhouse jail building in Shenley, last night.
A scary skeleton and two ghoulish witches took up residence for the evening, surrounded by eyeballs, or grapes and jelly, and worms, or black spaghetti.
A parish council spokesman said: “Shenley Parish Council’s Hallowe’en at The Cage was a great success. Everybody was very pleased to see the new look Cage as the refurbishment has just been completed and it looks really great.”
