Hertsmere’s economic development strategy has been given the seal of approval by a business group.

Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership endorsed Hertsmere Borough Council’s creative Hertsmere plan to regenerate town centres, support businesses, build skills and increase jobs at the council's environment scrutiny committee meeting last week.

The partnership's executive director Neil Hayes was at the meeting to talk about Hertfordshire’s current economic position and the economic partnership’s vision and strategy to improve the economy throughout the county.

Mr Hayes also gave an overview of the funding that is available for economic development projects which the council will be bidding for.

He said: “Hertsmere has a unique economy – it has a special connection to the creative industries of film and television as well as niche pharmaceutical activity. It is also home to a number of major employers and business headquarters.

“The council has created a clear picture of what needs to happen in the borough in order to generate economic growth. Having a blueprint like Creative Hertsmere greatly assists us in deciding where to focus our efforts and funding as we understand the council’s ambition far more clearly.”
