Health and wellbeing organisations and charities can now apply for a cash boost from Hertsmere Borough Council’s public health fund.

One-off grants of up to £3,000 are available from the council for projects that promote healthy weight and increase physical activity.

Schemes that also encourage people to reduce smoking or cut back on alcohol, or initiatives that improve mental health and emotional wellbeing, can also benefit from the grants.

Councillorr Brenda Batten, who is responsible for leisure, culture and health, said: "There’s already some great work going on across Hertsmere through the health and wellbeing partnership, promoting improved health and increased activity.

“I'm also sure there are many more innovative ideas that could make an even bigger difference.”
