A care home has officially opened a refurbished day centre for the elderly.

The Mead care home, in Castleford Close, Borehamwood, held the official opening of its newly refurbished Q Club last Thursday.

A jointly funded project between Quantum Care and Hertfordshire County Council, the club provides a day service for older people within the home which aims to help the elderly visitors to maintain their independence through a range of activities, events and services.

The new environment was officially opened by Q Club member Michael Hillier and Maria Ball, chief executive of Quantum Care.

The Mead home manager Jeannie Crockett said “We are delighted to open our newly refurbished Q Club, and hope that it will become a central point for the local older community and their families to access the much needed advice and support when dealing with the challenges of older age and dementia”
