A primary school celebrated its diverse community with an International Day.
Children from St Teresa’s School, in Brook Road, each came to school wearing a national costume during the International Day last week, and spent some time learning about each other’s home countries.
In the evening, parents, children, staff and governors came together to share food, drink, music.
Pupils also performed national dances from the different home backgrounds represented in the school community.
Headteacher Teresa McBride said: “We have a diverse school community and this is one of the ways we value and celebrate this diversity.
“The children had a wonderful day. They enjoyed showing and explaining their own national costumes and learning about the costumes of their friends.
The whole day, including the evening celebrations involving parents, grandparents, parishioners, staff, governors and our wider school community was a great success and a real celebration of our wonderfully diverse school community.”
