Visitors and staff are being greeted by the aroma of freshly ground coffee after a new stall at the Civic Offices.

As well as offering coffee, tea, cold drinks and snacks, Coffee Ethic aims to support people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction and re-integrate them back into work and into society.

The project has been delivered with funding and support from the council, Local Strategic Partnership, Community Safety Partnership, Hertsmere Community Grants, the Police and Crime Commissioner's Community Fund and the National Lottery’s Awards for All.

Police and Crime Commissioner David Lloyd joined the council leader Cllr Morris Bright, chief executive Donald Graham and Mayor of Hertsmere Cllr Carey Keates at Civic Offices to officially launch the scheme on Wednesday.

Cllr Morris Bright saiod: "This is a great initiative which also offers our visitors and staff great value products."

Coffee Ethic is part of the Druglink Family, a charity that helps those recovering from drug or alcohol misuse.

Mr Lloyd added: "I was absolutely delighted to be able to support this local project through my Community Fund.

"This is exactly the type of innovative scheme that the fund seeks to support and provides stability for those who have been affected by drug or alcohol misuse."
