The competition to find a good deed for the Times and Independent Series team to carry out is coming to a close.

Entries for the Mitzvah Day event must be with us by November 2, ahead of the scheduled events for Mitzvah Day on Sunday, November 16.

Thousands have already signed up to take part in good deeds across the country and the Times Series news team are readying themselves to lend a helping hand to a worthy cause in the community.

Events ranging from collectathons to clean-ups have been arranged by schools, religious groups and youth centres across the area, but there is still time to put your project forward.

Suggested projects include redecorating community centres, clearing allotments and green spaces, collecting toys, food and clothes for the needy, and gardening.

Any group, charity or organisation that needs a project completed by volunteers can submit their ideas, which will be judged by a panel including group editor Martin Buhagiar, Hendon MP Matthew Offord and Mitzvah Day founder Laura Marks.

To win a team of volunteers, email your name, project and phone number to aslater@london.newsquest.co.uk by Monday, November 3.
