Photographs of a school that opened 75 years ago today will go on display

Elstree & Borehamwood Museum will hold an exhibition featuring memorabilia from Hillside School.

Although the school is now closed, the museum has gathered items from past pupils and members of the former Borehamwood school’s community to mark its 75 years.

It was the first secondary school to open in Borehamwood and during the Second World War was the only school in the village.

The special display at the museum, which can be found on the top floor of 96 Shenley Road, will continue until mid-January.

Councillor Brenda Batten, who is responsible for leisure, culture and health, said: "Once again, the museum's volunteers have done a fantastic job with displaying all the wonderful materials that people have contributed.

“It's a very interesting exhibition reflecting how education, culture and society have changed in the past 75 years. I hope many of those who have had connections with the school over the years will take the opportunity to come along and share their memories."
