Pupils at Edge Grove School will get chance to work with and look after two Dartmoor pedigree ponies .
The ponies, called Passion Flower and Blackthorn, moved to their new home at the school in Aldenham Village last week.
They are part of a new outdoor learning hub, which includes a gazebo, a stage and a 'log' seating area to use for lessons.
Headteacher Ben Evans said he understands the importance of and is committed to providing outdoor learning at the boarding school.
He said: "We are in the process of creating a lovely remembrance garden at Edge Grove to mark the centenary anniversary of the First World War.
"Currently in development, it will be used as an area for quiet reflection and we are dedicating it to past Edge Grovians who lost their lives in the war."
The school also boasts a new language classroom, the latest technology in most departments and more books have been added to the school library.
LED lighting has been fitted too in all the refurbished classrooms, including the sports hall.
Mr Evans added: "There is evidence to support the notion that LED lighting significantly improves children’s concentration in lessons and it has also given the children a wonderfully bright environment to learn in."
