Schoolchildren took a trek around Africa this morning as part of their harvest festival celebrations.
Pupils at St Nicholas School, in St Nicholas Close, Elstree, recorded the number of miles they walked as part of a virtual tour of Africa.
Each class at the school decorated a wellington boot with a design based on a country in Africa and took part in the ‘welly walk’ this morning, before heading off to church for a harvest service.
The number of miles the pupils complete will be recorded on the Farm Africa website as part of a virtual experience to encourage as many schools as possible to walk around Africa and 'give hunger the boot'.
Children also made harvest-related hats, for Hats for Hospice, along with donating food to the Borehamwood foodbank.
All the children have been asked to contribute a donation of money to the Farm Africa and Hats for Hospice charities.
