A garage held a free ladies night after research shows that nearly two-thirds of female motorists do not feel comfortable taking their car to be repaired.

To help drivers understand their cars, Kwik Fit’s Borehamwood centre invited women to a free event to receive tips on basic car maintenance.

Recent research has revealed that nearly 64 per cent of female motorists don’t feel comfortable about visiting a garage for repairs, servicing or car-checks – with 24 per cent saying that they avoid going to a garage on their own.

Women were also given the opportunity to ask questions about their vehicles or visiting garages, in order to help them feel more comfortable should they have car problems in the future.

Manager Bav Modasia said: “The general belief has long been that women are less mechanically minded than men, but our research showed us that many women in and around Borehamwood want to learn more about their car.

"We want them to feel more confident when they need to go to a garage and that’s why held the evening.”
